
Marley Stephens serves as an academic adviser in 91果冻’s Brock School of Business, where she works primarily with freshmen in pre-business majors. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Marley brings nearly three decades of experience in education to her role at Samford.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in special education from Auburn University and began her career as a special education teacher at Green Valley Elementary School in Hoover. Over the course of seven years, she taught in both elementary and high school settings. While teaching, Marley pursued her passion for student development and earned a master’s degree in school counseling.
She went on to serve as a school counselor at Hoover High School for 22.5 years, during which time she also held the position of Lead Counselor for Hoover City Schools for 10 years. After 29.5 years of dedicated service in public education, Marley retired from Hoover City Schools.
Throughout her career, she has been deeply committed to supporting students and families. She has sponsored numerous student clubs and extracurricular groups and has actively contributed to a variety of committees and educational organizations. Her passion for advising and student success continues in her current role at Samford, where she is excited to serve a new generation of students.
Marley and her husband, Blake, have three children—two daughters and one son. They are active members of Hunter Street Baptist Church and enjoy hiking, traveling and spending time together as a family.
