After working with college students on a college campus for more than 20 years, I actually thought I would be 鈥渓iving my best parent life ever鈥 when my own daughters were finally in college. It seems silly in hindsight, but I truly believed my experience鈥攁nd even my expertise鈥攚ould exempt us from the struggle and stress of navigating the many transitions I knew were coming: togetherness to separateness, dependence to independence, parenting to partnering, managing to mentoring and, ultimately, adolescence to adulthood.聽
